South Korea’s casinos are in need of something strange. Although there are 14 of them and the other three certificates have been granted, only one of them is actually open to South Korean citizens. All the others are foreigners. South Korea is not, despite certain attractions, known as a major tourist destination, this has meant most of the casinos running at 10% capacity.
Koreans themselves inveterate gamblers and in recent years has been the explosion of online casinos in the Korean language, which the government is trying hard to close. Even a great horse race gambling, and sometimes even bicycle racing and other sporting events as well. But despite this huge cultural trend for gambling, South Korea’s casinos are hampered by the fact that only one of them be given to local citizens inside.
